I’m John Bourscheid. I write and edit every guide on Credit Card Churning, and I built the site to document how credit card churning works in the United States, in plain and current language.
Background
I’ve been earning credit card welcome bonuses for more than 10 years, mostly in the Hilton Honors and Delta SkyMiles programs.
My day job is in digital marketing and SEO. That is why the guides here are built to be accurate, sourced and easy to find.
I hold no certification in personal finance. Every figure on the site is dated and linked to its source, so you can check it yourself.
How I date and source every figure
- Primary sources first. Issuer terms, card agreements, award charts and program pages come before any summary.
- Observed rules are labelled. When an issuer never publishes a rule, as with Chase 5/24, the page says the rule comes from applicant data points and names where.
- At least 2 sources for anything volatile. Transfer ratios, award prices and velocity rules get cross-checked, and when sources disagree, the page says so.
- Every figure carries a date. Fees move, credits get restructured and ratios change with little notice. A number without a date is close to useless here.
- Rolling re-checks. Card pages are re-checked against issuer terms on a rolling basis, and the update date shows the last time that happened.
- Corrections move the date forward. When a figure changes, the guide changes with it, and rule changes go into the issuer rules tracker.
- No welcome-offer amounts. They vary by channel, targeting and sometimes the hour, so every guide sends you to the issuer instead.
Independence
The site makes its money from display advertising through Google AdSense. There are no affiliate links, and no issuer pays to be ranked or recommended. The affiliate disclosure covers how that would be handled if it ever changes, and the editorial standards cover sourcing and corrections in full.
