About

I built Credit Card Churning to document how credit card churning works in the United States: plainly, currently, and with a date on every fact.

I’m John Bourscheid, and I write and edit every guide here. More about me is on the about the author page.

Where the facts come from

Every guide starts from primary sources: issuer terms and card agreements, published application rules, award charts and program terms, and court decisions where they exist.

Many rules that matter are never printed. 5/24 is the famous one. For those I use the large public record of applicant data points, and the page says the rule is observed, not official.

The full method is in the editorial standards.

What every guide includes

  • A date. Rules in this hobby change quietly, so every guide shows when it was last reviewed, and volatile claims carry their own date. “As of October 2026” means a person checked it then.
  • The downside. Annual fees, score effects, clawback clauses and shutdown risk get named on every strategy. Advice that leaves out the risk is advertising.
  • Real numbers only. Fees, ratios and rules are dated and sourced. A figure I can’t verify is linked to its source or labelled unverified on the page.
  • No welcome-offer amounts. Offers change by channel and by week, so every guide sends you to the issuer for the current one.

Limits

Nothing here is financial, legal or tax advice for your situation. The guides document how the system works; the decisions are yours.

The site earns money from display ads through Google AdSense. It carries no credit card affiliate links, and no issuer pays to be featured or ranked. If that ever changes, the affiliate disclosure explains how it would work.

Corrections

Questions, corrections and data points are welcome through the contact page. Corrections go first. This niche punishes stale information, and the reader who flags it helps everyone who reads the page next.

When a rule or a number changes, I update the guide, move its date forward and note what changed.
