- Open ITA Matrix and enter your round trip as normal.
- Open the advanced routing controls and find the extension codes box for each direction.
- Enter a booking-class filter. For a Platinum card that is

- Read the results. Matrix shows the booking class on each segment, so you are looking for itineraries where every segment lands inside your filter.
- Take the dates back to Delta.com and search there. Matrix confirms the class exists; only Delta will attach the certificate.
- On Delta.com, open your profile, go to Certificates, eCredits & Vouchers, and pick the certificate before you search, so the results show only fares it can book.

The Comfort code needs a second check. Delta’s terms allow W and S only when L, U, T, X or V is also open in Main Cabin on that flight, so a W fare with Main sold out above V will not take the certificate. Run the Main code on the same dates to confirm.

What to do when nothing matches
Shift the dates first. Eligible classes tend to open on lower-demand days, so a Tuesday departure often works where a Friday does not. Then try a nearby airport, since a different origin can reprice the whole itinerary. Then check whether a connection prices better than the nonstop, because connecting fares frequently sit in cheaper classes.
If a route still refuses after all that, it is usually a thin market where Delta has no reason to discount. Pick a different destination rather than waiting.
Timing
The certificate arrives after you renew and pay the annual fee, in your renewal month, so it does not appear in your first membership year. It is valid for 1 year from the date it is issued and the travel has to be completed by that date, not merely booked by it. Search early for peak dates, since eligible classes on holiday travel disappear months out.
