Amex Business Gold Benefits (2026)

Quick answer

The Amex Business Gold has a $375 annual fee and earns 4x Membership Rewards on your top two spending categories each month from six eligible categories, on up to $150,000 in combined purchases a year, then 1x. Monthly statement credits for Grubhub, office supply stores and UPS.com shipments (UPS replaced FedEx on October 1, 2026) can offset much of the fee. From February 17, 2027, the advertising and wireless categories count only named merchants. Figures are as of 2026. Confirm the current fee, credits, and welcome offer at American Express.

The perks and details

The Business Gold automatically gives 4x on the two categories where your business spends most each month, from a set of six that includes advertising, technology, and shipping. The monthly statement credits for Grubhub, office supply stores and UPS.com shipments return up to $240 a year (UPS replaced FedEx on October 1, 2026), and other credits can add more, so the effective cost is well below the sticker fee. Membership Rewards transfer to travel partners for outsized value. Confirm the current categories and credits at American Express. Every destination and ratio is in Amex transfer partners.

What changes in February 2027

From February 17, 2027, 2 of the 6 categories narrow. Advertising earns 4x only on purchases made directly with Meta, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, GoDaddy and Yelp. Wireless earns 4x only with 11 named U.S. carriers: Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Frontier, Comcast, Charter, Spectrum Mobile, UScellular, Optimum, Ultra Mobile and Mint Mobile. The top 2 of 6 structure and the $150,000 annual cap stay the same. If your ad spend runs through other platforms, plan on 1x for it from that date.

The fee math

At $375, the fee only makes sense if you use the credits and earn 4x on real spending. The statement credits alone can offset most of it, and 4x on $150,000 of category spending is 600,000 points a year before any credits. If your business spends little in the eligible categories, a no-fee flat card is cheaper. Confirm the current fee, credits, and any welcome offer at American Express. If every offer shows the pop-up, read Amex pop-up jail.

Who it fits and who it does not

It fits a business with heavy, concentrated spending in a couple of the eligible categories that will use the credits and transfer points to travel. It fits less if your spending is flat and light, where the fee outweighs the rewards. Confirm current terms at American Express.
